I am very proud to announce that I’ve recently been asked to join the local Central Florida Affiliate of PanCAN as their Social Media Chair. This week I agreed to volunteer as a team member to help bring awareness to our local market. As part of our local affiliate, I will be helping with all aspects of social media as well as helping the organization of the PurpleStride 5k which will be held again next March.

A big thank you to everyone that joined us this past Saturday for PurpleStride 2018! We know several people couldn’t make it last minute and we completely understand, but all the texts and communication I received via social media was great. 

Mom walked 2 miles that day…. 1 mile more then she anticipated! Our team raised over $3,000! Although PurpleStride is over this year, we still have a lot of work to do! Our next fundraising event is with Project Purple and the Detroit Half Marathon that I am running this October!

Running for Project Purple

Most of you know I am a runner.. Typically I run at least 1 half marathon a year. This year for 2018 I have joined the Project Purple race team and will be running the Detroit Half Marathon this October.

As part of the team, I am raising awareness and will be posting updates throughout the year regarding this charity as well as my training.. and of course being that I am running in October my training will start in the ‘best’ time of year in Florida… August.

November 16th was World Pancreatic Cancer Day. Our family headed out to downtown Orlando that night to view some of the buildings supporting Purple including City Hall, Dr. Phillips Center and the Florida Hospital Cancer Center. I also ran that morning sporting as much purple as I could.:) It was inspiring to read all the stories out there on Social Media as well as the local Media that displayed their support.
